For 2021 I am doing green birding where I can walk or ride a bike and can record birds within 5 miles of my home with several other keep naturalists and bird watchers. Traveling by car and public transport to a destination does not count. My target was 140 for the year, it’s now April are I’m on 122 already, will have to see what the rest of the year brings.
The start of the year was cold and we have had snow, which has meant that need to make sure that wrap up warm. I am also limited on what I can take as I have been mostly cycling to RSPB Rainham Marshes, Chafford Gorges and Davey Down as part of my local patch.
Been an excellent start to the year with some surprises. I’ve had some good sightings including Little Stint, Ring Ouzel, Common Redstart, Great White Egret, Spoonbill, Wheatear and Goldeneye at RSPB Rainham. Closer to home we had many Siskin, Common Redpoll and Fieldfares fly to trees next to our garden. Also heard Barn and Tawney Owl calling from the garden. Here are some photos that I have managed to take over the past couple months.
